Alan alexander milne (1882-1956), english novelist and playwright, was born in london. 
His father, jhon vine milne, was a schoolmaster.
Milne was educated at westminster school and at trinity college, cambridge. 

He began his literary career as a journalist and contributed light humorous essays to punch magazine of which he was an assistant editor for many years.

Milne was an extremely humorous writer. 
He has written many light comedies which have had great success on the stage.

Mr.pim passes By and The Dover road are the best among his plays and are popular half a century after their production.  
   Milne wrote a series of books for his little son christopher robin ,which have become children's classics. 

when we were very young and now we are six are books of verse for children. winnie the pooh and the house at pooh corner are stories for children. his novel, the red house mystery is a classic among detective stories.
